Branding agencies for Web3 and crypto businesses

A Web3 brand needs to explain what the product does, who it serves and what users are being asked to understand. A distinctive identity can help people recognise it. It cannot establish the safety or quality of the underlying technology.

Compare the work and the fit

Compare the specific assignment: wallet identity, financial-platform communication or technical positioning. Ask for evidence close to the actual product rather than treating every crypto client as interchangeable.

This is relevant when a product needs both a clearer market position and a coherent expression in use. Ask where brand design ends and product design begins, and how the team will keep functional instructions clear within a more expressive identity.

Different scopes across digital-finance products

Clay

Clay lists branding, identity, design-system and UX work for Sky, while describing its Grayscale assignment as a website redesign.

These are different engagements. Compare the one closest to your brief and ask who will supply strategy, content, interface design and development. A familiar client name should lead to a discussion of the work, rather than substitute for it.

It may be worth discussing a brief centred on positioning or technical content, but request a relevant project, clear role credits and the proposed team’s experience before shortlisting. Do not treat stated sector interest as equivalent to the documented wallet work above.

What to put in your brief

  1. Explain the product, intended users and the actions it supports in plain language before developing a brand narrative.
  2. Separate corporate identity, product interface, community communication and technical documentation in the scope.
  3. Provide approved descriptions of capabilities and limitations. Decide who will review technical accuracy throughout the work.
  4. Ask for examples of functional instructions and unfamiliar terminology, as well as promotional applications.

Questions worth asking

  • Which comparable product did the proposed team work on, and what was its exact role?
  • How will you distinguish the brand proposition from claims about the underlying technology?
  • Who will maintain accurate product explanations after launch?

Common questions

Does a polished brand demonstrate product safety?

No. Branding describes and presents a product; it does not replace an assessment of its technology or operation. Keep that distinction clear in the brief and the published communication.

Should we use the fintech guide as well?

Yes, where the product concerns payments or digital finance. Compare the exact audience and assignment rather than assuming the two categories require the same experience.
